A mother desperately tries to avoid the impending reality of her terminally ill daughter’s passing. One day, Death arrives in the form of a size-altering macaw that sends them on an emotional journey which examines the complexities of accepting death. In her directorial debut, Daina Pusic offers a totally fresh, unique and interesting way to shake up a heavy, frequently used formula. Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Lola Pettigrew are extraordinary, while the voice of Arinzé Kene affords the bird a wide range of tonality–unsettling and ominous, yet sympathetic and comforting.
