During a 20 year relationship between Eugenie (Juliette Binochet), a cook and Dodin (Benoît Magimel), her famous gourmet employer, a romantic involvement has developed. When she steadfastly continues to express resistance to marriage, he sets out to influence that feeling by his preparation of meals especially for her. This appetizing tale easily joins a well-regarded list of movies about food, humanity and love (BABETTE’S FEAST, BIG NIGHT and LIKE WATER FOR CHOCOLATE). The two stars (previously married in real life) provide a chemistry and believability that is seldom achieved.
