The Secret of Kells

2009, 79 min, PG

Set in medieval Ireland, The Secret of Kells is a beautifully animated fantasy inspired by Celtic mythology, history, and illuminated manuscripts. The story follows a curious young boy living within the fortified Abbey of Kells whose world expands when he encounters a mysterious traveler carrying an extraordinary, unfinished book. As he ventures beyond the abbey’s walls, he discovers a landscape filled with ancient forests, folklore, and magical beings, while learning about courage, creativity, and the power of knowledge. With its distinctive hand-drawn visual style and rich sense of wonder, the film offers an enchanting experience that celebrates Irish art, storytelling, and imagination.
