Ruth Stone’s Vast Library of the Female Mind
2021, 76 min, NA
Ruth Stone was a promising young poet when her husband unexpectedly died, leaving her destitute and forced into working tirelessly to provide for three children. The unique poetry she created won accolades and awards and her Vermont home became a mecca that offered an inspiring atmosphere for students, poets, friends and family members. Nora Jacobson’s intimate portrait, 12 years in the making, combines footage of Stone at different times in her life with heartfelt observations from those who knew her and some striking animation by Ruth’s granddaughter Bianca.
Nora Jacobson will introduce her film and host an after-film Q&A.
