A brilliant, unorthodox scientist (Willem Dafoe) has brought a deceased young woman (Emma Stone) back to life—with the mind of a newborn, blank but eager to learn. And learn she does, eventually leaving the scientist for an amorous, continent-hopping experience with a mustached rogue (Mark Ruffalo). Totally masterful cinematic storytelling from Yorgos Lanthimos a(noted for making strange movies) that strikes the perfect balance between dark humor and meaningful themes (some echoes from FRANKENSTEIN). Stone is truly breathtaking as the evolving, uninhibited Bella Baxter.
