Horticulturist Narvel Roth (Joel Edgerton) is truly devoted to maintaining the world-class grounds (and periodic carnal needs) of Mrs. Haverhill (Sigourney Weaver)–a wealthy, demanding dowager. But his current, well-arranged existence is uprooted with the arrival of Mrs. Haverhill’s biracial and troubled grand-niece (Quintessa Swindell). An edgy mystery/thriller from director Paul Schrader (THE CARD COUNTER / FIRST REFORMED) is a penetrating study of a man with a decidedly dark past seeking redemption.
