Capital in the 21st Century
2019, 103 mins, Not Rated
In English and French with English subtitles
Justin Pemberton’s adaptation of Thomas Piketty’s best selling, 700 page book is a distilled, very entertaining examination of economics during the past 100 years. It depicts capitalism as a self-perpetuating beast with a natural inclination to bloat the rich and starve the poor. Cogent arguments (from an army of talking heads) are presented in layman’s terms with witty visual correlations. Watched during the current COVID 19 disaster, this documentary feels like an autopsy for a broken system.
