Otto Anderson (Tom Hanks) is a grumpy, suicidal widower who seems to relish criticizing and judging everyone he comes in contact with. Enter new boisterous neighbors (Mariana Trevino and Manuel Garcia-Rolfo) with whom he forms a begrudging bond. This bittersweet comedy/drama offers a totally welcome message of hopefulness and spiritual renewal. Hanks is terrific here and so is Trevino as she injects a bit of chaos and liveliness into Otto’s cynical existence.
