As a nonprofit cinema, Red River Theatres is committed to providing experiences that entertain, inspire, broaden perspectives, and strengthen the connections between us.
Red River Theatres opened its doors on October 19, 2007, following a seven-year community effort and a successful $1.8 million capital campaign. Built in the heart of downtown Concord, the three-screen cinema was created to give the Greater Capital Region a permanent home for distinctive films and shared cultural experiences.
Founding volunteers named the organization after Red River, the classic 1948 Western in which the lead characters undertake an ambitious—and ultimately successful—journey. The name reflected the determination of the community members who worked to build an independent cinema from the ground up in New Hampshire’s capital city.
Today, Red River Theatres is New Hampshire’s only nonprofit, full-time cinema. We present newly released films, independent and locally made films, documentaries, classics, family programming, special events, filmmaker conversations, and more.
Red River is more than a place to see a movie. It is a welcoming community gathering place where people can experience new stories, exchange ideas, and connect with one another.
Located at 11 South Main Street in downtown Concord, Red River Theatres is an 8,500-square-foot, three-screen nonprofit cinema offering an intimate and welcoming moviegoing experience.
Our Lincoln Financial Cinema seats 156 guests, and our Stonyfield Culture Cinema seats 109. Both feature stadium seating, digital projection, and surround sound. The 22-seat Jaclyn Simchik Memorial Cinema offers a more flexible setting for intimate screenings, discussions, workshops, receptions, and private events.
Red River Theatres is accessible to guests with disabilities. Accessibility features include designated seating, assistive-listening devices, closed-caption devices, and open-caption screenings. Our staff is always happy to help guests identify the accommodations available for a particular film or event.
The Indie Café offers freshly popped popcorn, candy, soda, beer, wine, coffee, and a variety of additional snacks and refreshments. Our lobby also features a gallery where local artists can exhibit and sell their work.
A 510-space parking garage is attached to Capital Commons, with its entrance located on Storrs Street and direct indoor access to the building. Guests may also enter from South Main Street through the pedestrian plaza.
The Lincoln Financial Cinema seats 156 people plus spaces for wheelchairs. Christie Digital projection and Full Digital Dolby surround sound available (Supported formats: Blu-Ray, DVD, DCP).
The Stonyfield Farm Culture Center seats 110 people. Christie Digital projection is available (Supported formats: Blu-Ray, DVD, DCP).
Our most popular and versatile rental space, the Jaclyn Simchik Memorial Cinema is a cozy, fan-shaped room with 4K digital projection capability. The Simchik Cinema seats up 22 people, with movable chairs, which allow for a variety of set-up options and is great space for a reception.
Enter Capital Commons through the main entrance on South Main Street. Inside the building, take the elevator to Level L1. After exiting the elevator, follow the signs to Red River Theatres.
Take the garage elevator to the Plaza Level and exit onto South Main Street. From there, enter Capital Commons through the main entrance, which is also the entrance to The Hotel Concord. Take the building elevator to Level L1. After exiting the elevator, follow the signs to Red River Theatres.
