Close-Up with Camenker Volume XXXII, Overall Update
This Week for “Close-Up with Camenker,” Volume XXXII, Overall Update
(May 18, 2022)
I know I had said back in early April that my next column would appear on April 20. Lo and behold, we are now in mid-May and you’ve heard nothing from me. Apologies! Between travel, the end of the school year, and my work with the school drama club, time has gotten away from me.
Nonetheless, I am planning to see the new DOWNTON ABBEY film as soon as possible and will plan on reviewing it for Red River shortly.
In the meantime, I have been enjoying some TV series at home, both new and old, as well as a film here and there.
In the spirit of all things DOWNTON ABBEY, I’d highly recommend the 2006 film THE QUEEN starring Helen Mirren as Elizabeth II and Michael Sheen as Tony Blair, which you can find on HBO Max. It made me want to check out the other films featuring Sheen as Blair, including the 2010 piece THE SPECIAL RELATIONSHIP, also on HBO Max, which chronicles his connections with US Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush.
Specific to TV, I am deep into Hulu’s UNDER THE BANNER OF HEAVEN, which features Andrew Garfield as a small town Mormon police detective caught up in a murder investigation with roots in the Church. It is fascinating and deep, heavy and brilliant.
Anyway, I just wanted to give a quick hello and let my readers know that I WILL return soon. Stay tuned!
Stay tuned for Volume XXXII of “Close-Up with Camenker,” which will return soon with thoughts on the new DOWNTON ABBEY film.
-
Red River is the best cinematic experience that my wife and I have ever had – viewing angle, sound, seating, snacks, staff, web site are top shelf, and the movie selections themselves are talked about for days.
-
My favorite place to see a movie. I always know that whenever I drop in to Red River Theatres, I’ll have a great cinematic experience.
